Mark Your Calendars To Be In Glenwood, Iowa on the weekend of September 5th, 2026

Found in only two places on Earth—western Iowa and China—the Loess Hills offer a rare and breathtaking landscape unlike anywhere else in the Midwest.
Set among these rolling hills, the Todd Peverill Outdoor Festival is a celebration of movement, creativity, and community in Glenwood, Iowa. From elite cross country racing and rugged trail runs to vibrant sidewalk art and competitive disc golf, this one-day festival brings together athletes, artists, families, and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages.
At the heart of the festival is the Glenwood Cross Country Course, nationally recognized for its exceptional design, safety, drainage, and spectator experience—making it a destination for elite competition and unforgettable outdoor events.

Todd Peverill has devoted more than 33 years to coaching high school and middle school athletes, most notably through Glenwood’s Track and Cross-Country programs.
Beginning in 1993, he coached long-distance runners and high jump athletes through 2019, consistently guiding competitors to Drake Relays and State qualification. His leadership helped produce individual state champions and contributed to the team’s 2011 State Championship title. Since beginning his Cross-Country coaching role in 1998, Todd has entered his 27th season, now mentoring second- and third-generation athletes who continue to benefit from his steady influence.
Todd’s mentorship extends well beyond athletic achievement. His guidance supports the physical, emotional, and character development of young people, helping shape confident and responsible future community leaders. He is also a trusted mentor to the Girls’ Cross Country coaching staff, freely offering support as they build successful programs and championship athletes. In 2023 and 2024, Todd volunteered additional hours to assist at track practices, working with distance runners from both boys’ and girls’ programs. Each spring, he also volunteers at home track meets, helping ensure smooth operations and contributing to Glenwood’s reputation for excellence in track and field management.
Beyond athletics, Todd played an instrumental role beginning in 1999 in establishing the six miles of nature trails at Glenwood Lake Park. These trails serve as essential training grounds as well as valued recreational amenities for the community. Even after retiring from his 11-year role with the park, Todd continues to volunteer alongside staff to maintain and improve these trails for future generations.
